Three Thousand Steps

Look up to the night sky
Do you see a lonely star
Or points of connection
Though it’s all so very far

Do you feel the power
As you reach out your hands
Do you feel the earth turning
In this cosmic dance

Three thousand steps between us
A stone’s throw from here
A million stars should have seen us
Drying a single tear
As we meet in the middle
I knew I’d find you here

Every night I take a walk
The same old dirty road
But tonight it must be cloudy
‘Cause I can’t receive the code

From the galaxy of thoughts
That reach for our heads
To steer our empty ships
Towards the river beds

And if love finds us at the drop of a hat
Let the river take care of that

Three thousand steps between us
(Three hundred more to go)
A stone’s throw from here
(Take it slow)
A million stars should have seen us
(What have we got to show)
Drying a single tear
As we meet in the middle
I knew I’d find you here

Off The Rails

Never the right moment
The moment I’d tell you everything
Like you did so many times before

You could be miles away
Or just around the corner, like now
No car can be fast enough to stop this war
Those thoughts that fight forever
Contradictions, and truth be told
I can’t keep up with my feelings anymore

I just have to see you right now, right here
I need to hear your voice, your laughter and your tales
Oh, I can’t admit that I’m lost without you
I won’t admit I’ve been thinking it through
I’m the train that always ends up off the rails

Always the wrong words
The words that make you cry
How could you ever understand why
I’m acting like the fool I am
Someday you’ll have to make me pay
For all the trouble I have brought your way

But I just wanna see you right now, right here
I need to hear your voice, your laughter and your tales
Oh, I can’t admit that I’m lost without you
On those nights I have been drinking through
I’m the train that always ends up off the rails

Oh, somebody pick me up
Someone get me back on track
Before I’m too far away
And there is no way back

I just wanna feel you right now, right here
I need to hear your voice, your laughter and your funny tales
Oh, I can’t admit that I’m lost without you
I won’t admit I’ve been thinking it through
I’m the train that always ends up off the rails
(The train that always ends up off the rails)
Yeah, I’m the train that always ends up off the rails

A Million Suns

So many letters unsent
Oh, the time I have spent
Writing down these words
You wouldn’t understand
A restless mind unspoken
The silence unbroken
Someday it will collapse
And flood this land

I don’t know if you can take it
This friendship may sink
But if somehow we made it
And accepted the missing link

A million suns would rise and enforce the light of day
Like our love would shine as strong as the brightest ray
A million stones would fall into canyons of dismay
‘Cause our love would bury the hurting disarray

So this may be my chance
An all or nothing dance
I’m offering my hand
In midst the stormy seas
Too late to hold it back
All hands on deck
Wherever this ship is leading us
It will go till the waters freeze

I don’t know if we can cope with it
This friendship may collapse
And if somehow we broke it
There’d be no treasure in these maps

And a million stars would fall and perforate the ground
Our love is standing on, no more safe and sound
A million tears would drop, a sad train homeward bound
And all the time the reasons can’t be found

Oh, I hope that you can take it
This friendship must survive
Yeah, I know somehow we’ll make it
And we’ll make it in this life

A million moons to reach for
A million words for those who pray
A million ways to love you
What else is there to say

A million suns will rise and enforce the light of day
Like our love will shine as strong as the brightest ray
A million stones will fall into canyons of dismay
‘Cause our love will bury the hurting disarray

Another Mile

Just a wish never meant to come true
Just a thought – shall it forever make me blue
I wouldn’t wipe it off my mind if I could
I couldn’t throw away a memory that good

And it’s a load I’ll have to carry all my life
A little light in the darkness of all struggle and strife
I shouldn’t care for something I can never have
Yet it’s the only thing I care for and ever have

Still it’s you who makes me smile
In little sparks of hope and joy
In tiny breaths that make this boy come alive
Still it’s you who makes me dream
The only dreams worth remembering
And it’s you who keeps me walking another mile

It’s just a choice we have to make someday
To clear out all those confusing shades of grey
We cannot change our shoes, we cannot twist our fate
Still a little hope is left for those who wait
For those who wait

It’s the roads we take, it’s the turns we make
It’s the promises that we keep or break
It’s the love that turns to hate and back
It’s you, it’s me, it’s the sense I lack

Still it’s you who makes me smile
In little sparks of hope and joy
In tiny breaths that make this boy come alive
Still it’s you who makes me dream
The only dreams worth remembering
And it’s you who keeps me walking another mile

Oh, it’s you who makes me smile
Who makes this boy come alive
And it’s you who makes me dream
It’s you who keeps me walking another mile
Yeah, it’s you who keeps me walking another mile

Confide In You

Isn’t it strange
I’m coming a long way
Just for a glimpse of the sun
That’s shining along
The trails you walk
Oh, life has just begun

You must think I am crazy
Just don’t think I’m sad
‘Cause it’s true, yes it’s true
So I just keep walking
This road with you
Until everything is new

Mistakes don’t vanish with time
You can only learn and forget
‘Cause if you hang on to these ruins
You might as well drown in regret
Oh, sweep this mess aside
For only once I will confide in you

It must be dark
Where I’m coming from
Every thought you receive goes blind
I could have shouted out
What I feel inside
But all I really want is you to find

The peace of the unspoken
The freedom of hearts unbroken
And yours has been broken at least a million times

Mistakes don’t vanish with time
You can only learn and forget
‘Cause if you hang on to these ruins
You might as well drown in regret
Oh, sweep this mess aside
Yeah, sweep this mess aside
C’mon, c’mon, sweep this mess aside
For only once I will confide in you
In you…

Your Eyes Are Green

How much can you read into someone’s eyes
Can you tell how they feel
Do you know they are real
Everytime I take a look at your eyes
I see a fire burning
I feel the world is turning

It’s turning away from all the bad things
No one wants to see us bleed
But in truth there’s only good things
And the truth is what we need

And honey, sugar, baby
I know you hate those given names
And whatever this world has seen
To me your eyes are green

I can count on the facts in life
Like I can count on your friendship
However bad the trip
Don’t stare at me like this
No need to kill with looks
Eyes are here to read open books

And these books, they tell about bad things
Don’t be afraid when the pages bleed
‘Cause in truth there’s only good things
And the truth is what we need

And honey, sugar, baby
I know you hate those given names
And whatever this world has seen
To me your eyes are green

Not grey or in between
I know you’re tired of these claims
And whatever this world has seen
To me your eyes are green

Fool (In The Middle Of The Night)

Please come around
I need to vent my anger
Need a nail for my hammer
Got pain by the pound
So come over here
There’s so much stress to relieve
I’m gonna pour out my grief
Like another beer

And once I have found out
What you really don’t like
I’ll know how to beg you
In the middle of the night
Oh, I’ll know how to beg you
In the middle of the night

I’m longing for sympathy
I’m down on my knees
But you won’t get a “Please…”
It sounds rather phony
Come here and stay
I really need you right now
I’m even ready to vow
It’s a joke anyway

And once I have found out
What you really don’t like
I’ll know how to beg you
In the middle of the night

I’m so glad you exist
‘Cause a friend in need
Is a fool indeed
To cheer ya up when you’re pissed
You’ll always be there
To catch me when I fall
To knock down any wall
You are the back of my chair

And once I have found out
What you really don’t like
I’ll know how to beg you
In the middle of the night
Oh, I’ll know how to beg you
In the middle of the night

In the middle of the night
In the middle of the night
(repeat)

A Bandage And A Crutch

Ringing your doorbell, then runnin’ away
You wouldn’t want me in here anyway
Dialing your number, then hanging up the phone
I’d never say an honest word to you, but still I can’t leave you alone

Dreaming – no one knows what I’m dreaming
I’m thinking – am I thinking too much
Someday – someday we will make out
My disguise will be a bandage and a crutch

Playing with your feelings, I’m in on the game
You can have anything, pleasure or pain
I know all your secrets, you sold ‘em for cash
I can’t say which spot it is I like best to beat and bash

Dreaming – no one knows what I’m dreaming
I’m thinking – am I thinking too much
Someday – someday we will make out
My disguise will be a bandage and a crutch

It’s just imagination, but for me it’s the truth
I believe I know you since the days of our youth
And every time I touch this voodoo doll
I bet I’m driving you all out of control

Dreaming – oh I’m dreaming
Dreaming – I’m dreaming
Dreaming – oh I’m dreaming
Dreaming of sweet vanilla fudge

Dreaming – no one knows what I’m dreaming
I’m thinking – am I thinking too much
Someday – someday we will make out
My disguise will be a bandage and a crutch

Where Lovers Meet

It’s a long street
I feel it in my feet
Everybody’s running around
Until they hit the ground

And I see you
I’m the stranger looking for you
But I don’t catch your eye
No matter how I try

‘Cause this street is full of empty promises
And we’re longing for a soothing deceit
Heedlessly washing down this dirt road
This ain’t the place where lovers meet

It’s a long time
Everyone waiting in line
Love shouts: wait your turn
No one’s left to burn

So let’s go astray
Pull away
Think of what to say
Tracking down each others’ heartbeat
Far off the busy street

‘Cause this street is full of empty promises
And we’re longing for a soothing deceit
Heedlessly washing down this dirt road
This ain’t the place where lovers meet

We don’t need an appointment
We’re guided by our hearts
We’ll have a picnic in the desert
Eating the sweetest tarts
In the middle of nowhere
We’ll assemble the fitting parts

‘Cause this world is full of empty spaces
Where no one ever has to retreat
And I know we will collide blindfolded
We will create a place where lovers meet
This is the place where lovers meet

Distance

It’s so familiar
The world around me
Nothing peculiar
Breakfast tea

But sometimes enough is just a bit too much
When you know how it feels before the initial touch

The fire once started is burnt out and cold
I think it’s time to leave the scaffold

Choose a direction, destination unknown
Discover the places far away from home
A new perspective as I look back in time
Will let the pieces in dust appear in the most beautiful shine

Distnace is what we need to appreciate the snacks
You can’t find a flower on trampled tracks

‘Cause sometimes enough is just a bit too much
Of sunshine and laughter, candy and such

Choose a direction, destination unknown
Discover the places far away from home
A new perspective as I look back in time
Will let the pieces in dust appear in the most beautiful shine

I’m a vagabond turning silver to gold
I’m a wanderer in search of the new old

Choose a direction, destination unknown
Discover the places far away from home
A new perspective as I look back in time
Will let the pieces in dust appear in the most beautiful shine

Nothing Ain’t Missing

Listening to the sounds of the city across the river
It all sounds so soothing from where I am
It’s just the motors and trains rumbling in the distance
And I don’t really care about their game

It feels like I’m all alone
All thoughts to myself
But after all the roaming
It finally feels like home

And nothing ain’t really missing
Nothing ain’t really missing
Nothing ain’t missing but you

Maybe I should get my feet on that bridge
And follow the ghosts that are calling for me
I’m not sure if what awaits me on the other side
Will trap my longings or set them free

Oh, the spell has been cast
It’s all in someone else’s hands
And I won’t try to resist
It’s easier being possessed

And nothing ain’t really missing
Nothing ain’t really missing
Nothing ain’t (missing but you)
Nothing ain’t really missing
Nothing ain’t really missing
Nothing ain’t (missing but you)

Still I’m searching, without trying to find
Still I’m learning, but without using my mind
And when the sunlight comes I’d rather go blind

Surrounded by the sounds of the city in midst of the storm
It pulls me to the ground of trampled stones
And the wagons delivering madness run beside me
Oh, my brain has shut down, but I feel it in my bones

And nothing ain’t really missing
Nothing ain’t really missing
Nothing ain’t (missing but you)
Nothing ain’t really missing
Nothing ain’t really missing
Nothing ain’t (missing but you)
Nothing ain’t really missing
Nothing ain’t really missing
Nothing ain’t (missing but you)
Nothing ain’t really missing
Nothing ain’t really missing
Nothing ain’t missing but you

The Professional

Meet up with the professional
Let him pull you out of the dip
Gotta be progressional
With the wisdom on his lip
And the drivel runs like a river
You’re drifting with the flood
And your eardrums gently quiver
His rhythm’s in your blood

Let him speak for you
Let him decide for you
Let him live your life
Let him control your mind
It is the ties that bind
Let him kiss your wife

Float on his wings of promises
He’ll guide you to your luck
And in the end you’ll have to confess
He’s worth every buck
Meet up with the professional
Let him pull you out of the dip
Gotta be progressional
With the wisdom on his lip

Let him speak for you
Let him decide for you
Let him live your life
Let him control your mind
It is the ties that bind
Let him kiss your wife

There comes a day when you’re on your own
When the old grey seal has gone
And you won’t know who you are anymore
Or how to open the professional’s door

No one to speak for you
No one decides for you
No one will live your life
No one controls your mind
Or saves the ties that bind
You’re gonna miss your wife

His words still float around
And with their shattering sound
They split your head in two
If only you could beg him
To do just one more thing
You’d let him die for you
You’d let him die for you
You’d let him die for you
You’d let him die for you

Beyond The Horizon

Some stories are true
Though sometimes they’re hard to believe
It’d strike you out of the blue
Causing pain in the deepest grief
So I’ll keep my mouth shut
From now on I shall be free
I’ll leave you all I’ve got
And tomorrow we will see

Something’s waiting beyond the horizon
Something new and unspoiled
Just about the all-time sweetest lie
Something’s waiting beyond the horizon
I know you’re not that hard-boiled
But there ain’t no reason to cry

None of this was planned
I would have stayed where I belong
But I know it had to end
I cannot tell you what’s gone wrong
We’re friends and will be forever
So don’t challenge my words
I’ll miss you and I’ll never
Destroy these perfect worlds

Something’s waiting beyond the horizon
Something new and unspoiled
Just about the all-time sweetest lie
Something’s waiting beyond the horizon
I know you’re not that hard-boiled
But there ain’t no reason to cry

I met my fate and I knew it had to be changed
You haven’t realized though everything’s been rearranged
It’s the last time I hope to gain your trust
You don’t need to understand, you must

Something’s waiting beyond the horizon
Something new and unspoiled
Just about the all-time sweetest lie
Something’s waiting beyond the horizon
I know you’re not that hard-boiled
But there ain’t no reason to cry

Most Confident

So you’ve decided to turn around and walk out
You think you have seen enough
And you try to hide those agitated notions
‘Cause you wanna pretend to be so rough

You’re doing your deeds like everybody
Never questioning what it’s worth
And there are so many eyes gazing at you
The most confident man on earth

Are you sleeping well at night
Dreaming of a blood red sky
It’s a never ending fight
This monster will never die

In the morning you take a look in the mirror
You never put your glasses on
Something’s creeping deep into your conscience
No, you are not the only one

And you’re pulling your ever-growing baggage
You’d never dare to let it go
And you’re trying so hard to show the world you don’t care
But the flames inside you will always grow

Are you feeling good today
With the same unsorted lies
A ghost train coming your way
Desertion in disguise

The most confident man on earth
The most confident man on earth
The most confident man on earth
The most confident man on earth

Are you sleeping well at night
Dreaming of a blood red sky
It’s a never ending fight
This monster will never die

Are you feeling good today
With the same unsorted lies
A ghost train coming your way
Desertion in disguise

The Weight Of The World

You say I’m running from reality
You say I cannot hide the fact
That I’m dreaming all the time
Waiting for impact

You think I’m keeping you out
Of my dreamland rooms
Where the seeds of fortune are planted
And a withered flower blooms

I’m not listening, at least I pretend
That I’m not under someone’s command
I decide where to start and where to end
And if I fall don’t give me your hand

I might cry and give it up
I’d rather die than drain the cup
Under the weight of the world
How can I live it up

You say it matters who I am
You say I’m crazy, maybe I am
You keep pulling me out of the dirt
Till I’m clean and want to get hurt

I’m not listening, at least I pretend
That I’m not under someone’s command
I decide where to start and where to end
And if I fall don’t give me your hand

No, I’m not listening, at least I pretend
That I’m not under someone’s command
I decide where to start and where to end
And if I fall don’t give me your hand
Oh, and if I fall don’t give me your hand
If I fall don’t give me your hand

A Sad Uplifting Song

All is so ordinarily wrong
Everything out of place
A sad uplifting song
For your inconspicuous face

But your ears, they refuse all sound
Listening to your weaker self
You pick up a handful of dust
And you put it back on the shelf

How many more times will you raise your head
How many more tears will you shed
How many years will you disregard
What could have been right from the start

You’re just drifting in spirals
And no one can stop you now
All those useless trials
But everything’s easy now

A revolving door in full swing
And you can’t get out of this loop
You’ll never know what time it is
Swimming in a frozen soup

How many more times will you raise your head
How many more tears will you shed
How many years will you disregard
What could have been right from the start

There are things in life you must go through
Like clouds passing in the sky
There are times when you haven’t got a clue
And you wish it would be just another lie

There was a man, had an acre of gold
But he died before it got sold
Look at your hands and at what they can hold
Plant the seeds, let the flowers unfold

How many more times will you raise your head
How many more tears will you shed
How many years will you disregard
What could have been right from the start

Now tell me, how many more times will you raise your head
How many more tears will you shed
How many years will you disregard
What could have been right from the start

Perfect Movies

Ever felt the urge to try something new
Just going for the one out of the blue
While leaving a steady world in dust
You’ll overcome the loss by wanderlust

You thought you could settle down with pride
Living a life that felt so right
So what’s up with your longing for a change
And your comfort in something that still feels strange

I don’t know if it is of relevance
To this tricky situation at hand
Just don’t fall back on your ignorance
(Don’t fall back, don’t fall back, don’t fall for… perfect movies)
Even perfect movies have to end

You can’t walk the same path in excitement anymore
And none of the keys you hold fit the exit door
When even obstacles you placed yourself don’t matter
And decisions you thought of as worse only make it better

So get up and keep your head held high
For this is the moment you draw the line and cry
It’s ok, let it all out, it will soon be over
Let this gift be your guide, a four-leaf clover

I don’t know if it is of relevance
To this tricky situation at hand
Just don’t fall back on your ignorance
(Don’t fall back, don’t fall back, don’t fall for… perfect movies)
Even perfect movies have to end

The perfect moment to make the cut
To write the perfect sequel, but…
it’s never gonna be as good as this
People say it all the time and miss…
out on a chance to change it all
Maybe not for the better
But for anything, anything at all

I don’t know if it is of relevance
To this tricky situation at hand
Just don’t fall back on your ignorance
(Don’t fall back, don’t fall back, don’t fall for… perfect movies)
Even perfect movies have to end
Even perfect movies have to end

Cube

You’ll never fit in
You’ll never fit in
I’ll say it again until you believe
That you’ll never fit in

Born into the system
I’m stuck in the tube
Leading to my destiny
In the shape of a cube

You don’t know where I come from
You just know where I have to go
And if I put a spoke in your wheel
The seeds I’ve planted will never grow

I have a voice no one seems to hear
I have no choice but to disappear
And in the silence we’ll create a better place
Where each and every one of us has got a face

You’ll never fit in
You’ll never fit in
I’ll say it again until you believe
That you’ll never fit in

A cube never starts rolling
Their minds are all the same
Am I looking like a misfit
Or is it just a silly game

You don’t know where I come from
You just know where I have to go
And if I put a spoke in your wheel
The seeds I’ve planted will never grow

I have a voice no one seems to hear
I have no choice but to disappear

Let Go Anchor

Still not quite awake
Pen in my hand, phone at my ear
Sometimes life feels fake
Where have they gone, my plans for the year

Someone’s pulling the strings
Pulling me over the edge
My thoughts swim in high tide oceans
My brain’s still on the ledge

Let go anchor
This ship is bursting at the seams
Beware the tanker
And its poisonous streams

Unready and unsure
Waves riding high, crashing down
A storm I can’t endure
Collecting the remains of all thoughts that have drowned

Nobody would drink up this mess
The flood wouldn’t stop
Still I’m hanging on, learning the ropes
As I scream from atop

Let go anchor
This ship is bursting at the seams
Beware the tanker
And its poisonous streams
(repeat)

At least there is one island left
An island of forgetting
A place for letting go
Peace I can find anytime
In midst of this chaos
Be it rain or be it snow

Let go anchor
This ship is carrying dreams
Stealth-mode tanker
It’s not what it seems

Let go anchor
Let go anchor
Let go anchor
This ship is bursting at the seams
Let go anchor

Shoulder

Rest your head on my shoulder
I knew what clothes to wear
The nights are getting colder
Who’d I be not to prepare
For the perfect thing to offer
To the one in great despair
A place for things taken off her
Things no one can repair

The day is done
Ease your mind a-shambles
Let go of the craze
Till all memory scrambles

Rest your head on my shoulder
The play’s over, the curtains fall
And we’re all just a little bit older
But still lost in this empty hall
I have no wise words to say
See no writing on the wall
I treasure every second you stay
Before you answer the battle call

The day is done
Ease your mind a-shambles
Let go of the craze
Till all memory scrambles

No thoughts of “could have beens” or “should have seens”
No regrets, no escape from the given scenes
I’m not expecting any reasoning
I just wish you’ll be yourself when the morning bells ring

The day is done
Ease your mind a-shambles
Let go of the craze
Till all memory scrambles

Rest your head on my shoulder
When you need me, I’ll be there
The nights are getting colder
And it’s just that I still care
